MAC MAIL & NEWS SETUP

This page can assist you in setting up Mail and News readers with specific, step by step, instructions for setting up: Netscape 3.n, Netscape 4.0+, and Eudora.

Setting up Netscape 3.n for Internet Mail and News.

Note: Information enclosed in [ ]'s needs to be supplied by you.

  1. Go to the 'Options' Menu
  2. Select 'Mail&News Preferences'
  3. Click on the 'Servers' tab
  4. Enter the following Information
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.trans-video.net
    • Incoming Mail (POP) Server: pop3.trans-video.net
    • POP user ID: [your username]
    • News (NNTP) Server: news.trans-video.net
  5. Click on the 'Identity' tab
  6. Enter the following information
    • Your Name: [Your Real Name]
    • Your E-mail: [your username]@trans-video.net
    • Reply-to address: [your e-mail address]
  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the window
  8. You should now be able to read mail and news by selecting 'Netscape Mail' or 'Netscape News' from the 'Window' menu.

Setting up Netscape 4.+ for Internet Mail and News.

Note: Information enclosed in [ ]'s needs to be supplied by you.

  1. Open the 'Edit' menu
  2. Select 'Preferences'
  3. Click on the triangle beside 'Mail&Groups' in the side bar, so that it points down and the sub-menu is visible.
  4. Click on 'Identity' in the side bar
  5. Enter the following information:
    • Your Name: [Your Real Name]
    • E-mail Address: [your username]@trans-video.net
    • Reply-to address: [your e-mail address]
  6. 6. Click on 'Mail Server' in the side bar.
  7. Enter the following information:
    • Mail server user name: [your username]
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.trans-video.net
    • Incoming mail server: pop3.trans-video.net
  8. Click on 'Groups Server' in the sidebar
  9. Enter the following information:
    • Discussion groups (news) server: news.trans-video.net
  10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window
  11. You should now be able to get mail and usenet through the Netscape Icon menu.

Setting up Eudora for Internet Mail.

Note: Information enclosed in [ ]'s needs to be supplied by you.

  1. Open the 'Special' menu from inside Eudora
  2. Select 'Settings'
  3. Click on 'Getting Started' in the side bar
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Real name: [Your Real Name]
    • POP account: [Your Username]@trans-video.net
    • Return address: [your e-mail address]
  5. Click on 'Personal Information' in the side bar
  6. Make sure the following information is set:
    • POP account: pop3.trans-video.net
    • Real Name: [Your Real Name]
    • Return address: [your e-mail address]
    • Dial-up username: [your username]
  7. Click on 'Hosts' in the side bar
  8. Make sure the following information is set:
    • POP account: [Your Username]@trans-video.net
    • SMTP: smtp.trans-video.net
  9. Click on OK at the bottom of the window
  10. You should now be able to send and receive mail.
