SYSTEM SETTINGS

This section provides information on setting up your e-mail, newsgroups, and personal web space. More detailed information is available in the Technical Information portion of our web site.

Key System Settings

• Incoming Mail: (POP3) pop3.trans-video.net
• Outgoing Mail:(SMTP) smtp.trans-video.net
• News Server: news.onlynews.com (with subscription)
• Primary DNS Server: 12.33.241.70
• Secondary DNS Server: 12.33.241.71
• FTP Server: ftp.trans-video.net
• WWW Server: www.trans-video.net

E-mail

Your cable modem installer configured your e-mail settings, so you can begin sending and receiving messages immediately. If you experience any difficulty, you may have to reconfigure your POP3 and SMTP settings so that they match those above.

To reach these settings in Netscape, select:

• Edit / Preferences / Mail & Newsgroups / Mail Servers

In Microsoft Outlook, select:

• Tools / Accounts / your account / Properties / Servers

You may also change other settings here, such as the name people see when they receive e-mail from you (not your user ID), or the e-mail address at which you want to receive their replies.

Newsgroups

Newsgroups are a feature of Internet mail, existing side by side with your e-mail account. Once your News Server has been specified as news.onlynews.com (subscription required), you are ready to begin subscribing to newsgroups.

To specify your settings in Netscape, select:

• Edit / Preferences / Mail & Newsgroups / Newsgroup Server
  If the news server is not set up, click the Add button then type in the server name. To set it as your default server, highlight it, then click Set as Default.

From Internet Explorer:

• Click the Mail icon at the top of the page, and select Read News.
  If your Microsoft Outlook newsreader has not been set up, your computer will instruct you to install it, and walk you through the process.
• Once in Microsoft Outlook, to set news.onlynews.com (if you have subscribed to this commercial service) as your default news browser, select:
  • Tools / Accounts / Add
• You are now ready to begin subscribing to your favorite newsgroups.

Personal Web Pages

As part of your Trans-Video.Net service, you are entitled to personal web space.
